Time to doing something about more energy

I am wondering just why my Democratic party and our nominee for President cannot get out front in the area of what to do for getting more energy at a lower cost. I am looking out my window at the Gulf of Mexico and a drilling platform about 3 miles away. It does not cause any problems here in Texas and I have yet to see oil or tar on the beach. Why are we opposed to drilling for oil and natural gas off the coasts of the other states? Why not drill in Alaska and the ANWR Park there. Why not expand the oil shale areas in the west. Let build more safe nuclear plants and spend more on alternative sources of energy? Let’s build more refineries and expand the ones we have. The public is way ahead of the elected officials in understanding that none of this will help us this year or maybe the next few years but we do need to look at what we will need in the next decade.

Oil and gasoline prices may decline but the voters will be looking at what the candidate are going to do to help solve this problem and we cannot just say we are not going to drill for more oil and instead just try and develop new sources of energy. We need to say we are going to take nothing off the table.

I like Boone Picken's ideas and I also like Al Gore’s. But let’s start something now and get going on all of the things we need to do this year to help us in the future.
