    The Events in DC

Watching the Sunday concert on the Mall with the Obamas reminded me of one I attended with the late Billy Carr in 1993 with the Clintons. It was cold then as it will be tomorrow in Washington but the excitement kept us all warm. It hardly seems that was 16 years ago.

So as I set here in Crystal Beach watching the inauguration in Washington I think back to the other celebrations I have attended in DC to watch a new President be sworn in. The first was in 1977 for Jimmy Carter. The last was 1997 for Bill Clinton. I have never been so hopeful for a new President as I am for Barack Obama. Even though he takes over with way more problems then did those two Presidents.

And tonight is the famous Texas Black Tie and Boots party. It will be a mob scene and the lines will be long for drinks and the dance floor will be crowded. But Texas Democrats and those who want to be Texans will have a big time in DC.

Tomorrow I will say a prayer for our new President and pray that he can change our nation and survive the next four years. He starts with a big approval rating and the good wishes of the nation. Join me in saying a prayer for our President.

    George
