Well tonight we are in Colby KS a nice little town with a Motel 6. Gas is $2.66 here, down from the $3.09 we paid in OR. Of course in Oregon you have to have someone pump your gas. It is required. George says that gasoline is coming down because kids are in school and no one in traveling. I think it is because of the upcoming elections and the GOP with the big oil guys are making sure that the gas is going down. It will help the Republicans.
Last night we were in Odgon UT. We stayed at a Red Roof Inn, the sister of Motel 6. They provide shampoo, which we like.
George told me the story of how he first ate Chinese food in Green River WY when he was a young kid. His dad stopped there and took the family to eat at a famous Chinese café. He said they did not ,at that time have such food in Rapid City, SD where he was raised. Why did he tell me that, because we went through that town today. We also stopped at Little America where I watered their lawn.
We drove through smoke most of the way yesterday. There are big fires in OR and WA and the smoke was very bad. In ID they were warning folks not to go outside due to the smoke. We also saw rain again. Yesterday and today. Lots of rain and black clouds in KS. Made me want to check the clouds for tornadoes.
They need the rain and we only saw rain one day in Seattle so it was nice to see, but of course I refused to get out of the car when it was raining. I had to cross my legs and wait for it to stop.
So tomorrow we should be close to Texas. And we should be at the beach on Sunday.
