Now that the Texas Legislature is about over, and not a minute too soon, politics for 2008 is about to start. The Gossips are hearing rumors that there is a poll in the field asking Democrats if they would vote for a pro-life Democrat for the U.S. Senate. Now who could that be? In the past two former politicians who were at one time pro-life have been mentioned as possible candidates for the Cornyn seat. But where they are this year on abortion is uncertain. In their past runs for office they did say they were for keeping abortion safe and legal. So is this a poll for Tony Sanchez or John Sharp or some new pro-life Democrat?
And the Gossips are hearing rumors out there that Houston Mayor Bill White might just decide not to run for re-election and instead go for the nomination for the U.S. Senate against John Cornyn. White is of course, a Democrat and is pro choice.
So if White was going for the Senate who would run for Mayor. The Gossips wonder who can raise big bucks fast? Council member at-Large Peter Brown is one name and man about town and former Kemah Mayor Bill King is another. Brown has been on the campaign trail being slightly critical of Mayor White. King is out there talking about his role at TSU and what we need to do when a storm comes. They each could raise big money fast.
