    Watts, Noriega and Cornyn

The Gossips are excited about the Democratic race for U.S. Senator. Looks like we will have a well funded , not quite a pro-choice lawyer Anglo lawyer against a pro-choice, Hispanic State Representative who will not be so well funded. Attorney Mikal Watts now says he will put almost 10 million of his own money in the race for the nomination and State Rep. Rick Noriega says he will enter the race. Rick will have Democratic consultant James Aldrete working for him and former State Rep. Sue Schechter will be his Campaign manager. And if you look at history in the Democratic race for the U.S. Senate you will see that a qualified Hispanic does very well in the primary. And Rick Noriega is well qualified and Aldrete and Schechter are experienced in running campaigns.

And U.S. Senator John Cornyn will also be well funded, but the Gossips keep hearing that he may just be a little too close to President Bush to keep the President's low poll numbers from not effecting his own race. Cornyn who looks like a U.S. Senator from Texas has not been acting like a Senator who wants to represent all of the state's citizens. His voting record is way to the right of our other U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Maybe that would get you elected six years ago but with Cornyn's strong support for the war in Iraq and his voting for the most conservative Supreme Court judges in the history of the country he may just have trouble getting re-elected. I would be worried if I was the Senator.
