The DA, Hillary keeps it interesting, Emmett out front

The Gossips are again bemused by the latest emails from DA Chuck Rosenthal. I sure looks like he used county owned computers to send political material to others in the office. Hey, that is illegal. In1982 a State Senator was forced to resign because he used state owned typewriter used for political purposes. Who brought the charges, Harris County DA Johnny Holmes. The Gossip was a reluctant witness in that little scandal. But it is clear you cannot use government owned equipment, office space, etc for political purposes. The Gossips think lots of GOP elected officials are busy erasing their email and checking their phone records to make sure that no personal or political records are there.

And let it be said I did think Hillary had some more time beyond NH to get her campaign together, but her win Tuesday night was a nice surprise. The Gossips want the race to move on, in fact the Gossips want the race to still be up in the air before it gets to Texas. There is nothing like a contested primary to get folk’s attention and it would also be good for the U.S. Senate race as well.

And the Gossips are wondering just what is going on in the Republican County Judge race. Is County Judge Ed Emmett feeling the heat from Charles Bacarisse in their race for the nomination. Emmett is out front on the Rosenthal scandal and looks like he would love to have the DA resign so that the fallout doesn’t hit his campaign. After all some voters might just think that the County Judge should know what is going on at the Court House even if the DA is elected separately and has nothing to do with the Judge’s office other then getting funding from the Commissioner’s Court. Of course both candidates are really looking at the fall and trying to distance themselves from the DA’s problems. It gives the Democrats a slogan, “Let’s clean up the Court House” and if you vote for Democrats you will get reform at the Court House. If I was a candidate I would start handing out bars of soap.
