Ok let’s gossip about whom is running for office in the next year or so:
Is Chris Bell, the former candidate for Governor, and a former Houston City Councilmember and a former U.S. Congressman, thinking about running for the State Senate seat being vacated by Senator Kyle Janek? That would make him the Gossip’s state senator if he was elected in this GOP leaning district.
And for Mayor of Houston count Peter Brown, Annise Parker, Bill King and George DeMontrond looking at the race in 2009. Brown is an at-large City Councilmember and well known city planner, Parker is the City Controller and the first Gay person elected to office in Houston, King is a former Mayor of a small town south of Houston, an expert in transporting folks from storms and use to head a law firm that collected taxes from those who did not pay and DeMontrond is a car dealer and the former head of Houston’s efforts to get the Summer Olympics. So far no African-American has surfaced as Ben Hall has decided not to run.
And the Gossips hear that the race to replace Parker as the City Controller we have Carroll Robinson, Ronald Green and M.J Khan. Robinson is a former City Council member, Green is an at-large Council member and Khan is a District Councilmember. Robinson and Green are African-Americans and Khan is Asian.
And the Gossips are wondering just what Houston Mayor Bill White will do at the end of his term in 2009? Will he run for Governor or try for the U.S. Senate?
