My goodness the Republican Judges are now complaining about losing their positions due to straight ticket voting by the Democrats. Now that is a shame, but where were these Judges when John Hill and others tried to change the way Judges are selected. My old friend John Crooker hired me one time to try and change the system for selecting judges and we got very little help from the GOP judges. They were happy with the present system of partisan election of Judges. We have to keep the election method so that the voters will have a voice was their cry. The shoe is on the other foot now and they are crying about the partisan system.

Of course it is a poor system and Texas should move to a merit system or appointment and election for retention or some combination. It just makes no sense to throw good judges with years of experience out of office just because they were in the wrong political party this year. And to those new Democratic Judges, who just got swept into office, remember things can change so speak up and change the system.
